Kannikar Petersen
about
I am a self-taught painter and practicing architect. My paintings frequently reflect my experience and observation of my surroundings - an attempt to capture a moment in time. I use loose brush strokes to portray light and convey emotion and movement. Unlike the precision inherent in my architectural practice, I gravitate toward impressionistic representation of the subjects I paint. Without being too literal, I strive to show the essence of my subjects.
I work mostly in acrylic. I enjoy various subjects: people, animals, and landscapes, and welcome the challenges that come with them. I love learning and experimenting, as a result, my art will continue to evolve.
I am originally from Bangkok, Thailand. I completed my architectural studies in Bangkok and Houston, Texas. I now live and work in St. Helens, Oregon.
